Main subjects in this masterclass is presence on stage, giving and taking space. This strongly physical workshop starts by introducing tools for a radical presence on stage with a balance between vulnerability and power. All participants are invited to present their physicality and defend their individual territory. The individual profiles will be the fundament for a guided and structured improvisation. The further it goes, the more freedom and space will be conquered. As a result, a mini-biotope will be built.
United Cowboys is a live-art company, based in Eindhoven, working at the interface between dance, image and performance art and embracing the obscure and the unknown. Main goal is creating projects across disciplines, with the dance performative art as starting point and core. Maarten van der Put (concept, direction, scenery) and Pauline Roelants (choreography and concept) question theatrical conventions, stretching and challenging them, in order to penetrate to the key point and quintessence of art. Since 2014, United Cowboys builds “biotopes” on location. These environments with dancers, performers and musicians are self-sufficient. The space is being redefined and the audience allowed to observe and experience their worlds from all angles.
