Theater performance based on contemporary Bulgarian playwriting with sound live design
in Bulgarian with English subtitles
The plot is a peculiar time machine that transports the viewer from one place to another. This is the story of a man and woman bound over the duration of many rebirths. During their meeting in the in-between space – between life and death – their common past comes to life. The play poses the question whether it is time for a change when the nature of love changes.
Miroslav Hristov’s play Cicadas is among the three dramaturgical texts selected at the 2017 New Bulgarian Drama Festival in Shumen. In the spring of 2018, it was also selected by the Platform for New Playwriting “ProText” and the European Network “Eurodram 2018”. The performance is one of two debuts in the 2019 ACT Festival program. The director Alexandra Petrova wins IKAR award 2017 in the Debut Category for her first performance – “Hamelin”.
