In the last two years, the political, social, economic changes in the United States have profoundly altered American theatrical practice. In this conversation, American stage directors Alikhan, Fadul, Martinez, Watson, Stelian-Shanks, playwrights Nilan, Tim Lord and philanthropist Susan Lang will share these transformations including new rehearsal practices, intimacy staging techniques, color-blind versus color-conscious casting, the wave of artistic leader resignations from the #MeToo scandals, theatre-as-resistance, transgender representation, and the playwrights now produced (and those being removed from the field).
The panelists will welcome questions and discussions, and afterward will join the audience in a celebration of the 10-year international exchange collaboration between The Drama League of New York and Art Office.
