The Astronaut is a multi-genre theatre project, implemented by means of the movement and object theatre, sound installation and radio theatre. The performance brings back to light the failed flight of Soyuz -1 spacecraft in 1967, during which Russian cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov died. Vladimir Komarov was a Soviet fighter pilot, engineer, and an astronaut. One of the most experienced and qualified members of the first group of Soviet spacemen. He was the first man to fly in space twice, and also the first person killed during a space flight. Valentina Komarova was Vladimir Komarov’s wife. They were married in 1950. They had two children: Evgeniy and Irina. The project is implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and with the assistance of real estate agency Yavlena. Many thanks to them.
